We met with the Rockefeller administration yesterday for our first bargaining session
We are pleased to share that our UPROR-UAW Bargaining Committee met with the Rockefeller administration yesterday for our first negotiation session. We began the session with introductions from both sides. Rockefeller’s Bargaining Committee included Tim O’Connor, Mike Young, Tom Sakmar, Romayne Botti, Deborah Yeoh, Paul Salvatore, and Yoni Grossman-Boder. We presented our initial bargaining goals, which postdocs voted to ratify by 99%. The meeting was productive and included a constructive discussion about building on the industry-leading standards won by our colleagues at Mount Sinai for bargaining our contract at Rockefeller.
While we expect both sides to propose modifications to this basic structure, we firmly believe that the fundamental rights, protections, and benefits codified in the Mount Sinai postdoc contract are the bare minimum that we deserve as postdocs at one of the foremost biomedical research institutions in the world.
While this is just the beginning, we were encouraged by the tone of the conversation and look forward to continuing negotiations in the coming weeks. The next bargaining session will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, March 26th. If you would like to observe the session, please let us know with this link.
