Some postdocs have reported being told that expected pay increases and promotions are on hold, citing a need to maintain existing working conditions until we have negotiated a first contract. Please fill out this form if you have been told that an expected change in compensation or position is awaiting confirmation from the union or the negotiation of a contract. If you have been promoted or received a salary increase since the election (September 19th), please also fill out the form. A member of the Bargaining Committee will contact you for more information. All responses will remain confidential.

Now that our union has been certified, Rockefeller has a legal obligation to bargain with our elected representatives over the terms and conditions of our employment. However, this legal obligation to bargain does not require Rockefeller to cease raises, promotions, or improvements. The law dictates that the university must follow past practice regarding wage increases and promotions while we negotiate a first contract. Where a raise or benefit is regular or expected, not paying that raise or benefit could be an unlawful change to this aspect of our working conditions. Other institutions, including Mount Sinai and WCM, experienced similar issues immediately after unionization which were quickly resolved.
