Next week we’ll have a historic opportunity to vote on forming our union at Rockefeller.
We’re looking forward to voting yes in that election. For some of us, it’s to preserve our current benefitsand prevent unilateral changes by Rockefeller. For others, it’s about creating a more accessible and inclusive workplace, particularly for those of us facing structural obstacles like international workers and parents. We’ve added a page on our website with some of the reasons we’re voting yes – check it out here.
Rockefeller has continued to try to persuade us against unionizing, most recently targeting on-campus childcare. While it is disappointing that the administration would attempt to divide our community along these lines, it is also not surprising – Columbia, Sinai, and Einstein all used similar tactics to try to discourage their postdocs from forming unions.
It’s clear why Rockefeller would want us to vote no next week. Below, read a new opinion piece by postdoc parents highlighting some of the reasons many of us plan on voting “yes”.
